In the summer months, cool off with a dip in the heated pool, then stretch out on the patio, sway in the hammock, and fire up the BBQ for an easy dinner outside. As the evening sets in, gather around the wood-burning fire pit under the stars and linger a little longer in the fresh Hudson Valley air. Inside, the home keeps the same easy, welcoming flow, with an open-concept living, dining, and kitchen space that’s perfect for coming together between adventures. Stream your favorites on the smart TV, then head to the fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, ample counter space, booth seating, and a dedicated workspace—ideal for everything from pool-day snacks to big group dinners. When it’s time to rest, there’s space for everyone to spread out comfortably. Upstairs, the primary bedroom features a king bed plus a pull-out sofa sleeper, while downstairs offers a spacious bedroom with two queen beds. The loft rounds it out with four twin beds that are perfect for kids, cousins, or classic sleepover nights, and Casper mattresses throughout help everyone sleep cool and wake up refreshed. The best part is how effortlessly this home blends rustic character with modern comfort—original beams, sliding barn doors, and cathedral windows paired with renovated bathrooms, walk-in showers, and a private sauna for post-hike (or post-pool) recovery. Whether you’re here for sunny pool days, fire-lit evenings, or simply a place that makes it easy to be together, this one-of-a-kind Germantown barn-house is ready to host your next getaway. Please Note: There is no central Air Conditioning. We have 2 window units, but the loft may get hot during summer heatwaves. Pool Access: Available seasonally, closed in winter months. Pool is available June through August. Heating by request, $50/night fee applies. • Winter Access Notice: The driveway and parking area is plowed in winter. During snowy conditions, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended for reaching the home. If you’re traveling without one, access may be difficult or not possible at times. Portoro Homes cannot be held responsible for weather-related access issues or provide assistance if a vehicle becomes stuck.

Guest Access

Portoro Homes offers convenient self check-in. Check-in instructions will be sent by email and text prior to arrival with everything you need to access the home easily and on your schedule. You’ll also receive a digital Guest Guide for the home, packed with helpful tips, house info, and local recommendations to make the most of your stay. • Early check-ins or late check-outs: Standard check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and standard check-out time is 11:00 a.m. If the home is ready earlier on the day of arrival, an early check-in may be available when confirmed with our main office. Late check-outs must be requested and confirmed by our main office prior to departure.

Getting Around

Getting around Germantown and the Hudson Valley is easy, scenic, and best done by car, especially from 516 Hover Avenue Extension. Having your own vehicle gives you the freedom to hop between river towns, farm stands, trailheads, and historic sites without feeling rushed, and most drives are calm and low-stress with well-maintained roads and minimal traffic. Parking is typically straightforward and often free, and even in popular nearby spots like Hudson or Rhinebeck, you’ll usually find public lots or metered spaces without much hassle. Some of the most enjoyable routes in the area turn simple errands into mini road trips. Route 9G is a favorite for Hudson River views and historic stops, while Route 23 is a beautiful option when you want broader valley scenery and access to nearby towns. If you’re heading farther afield, the Taconic State Parkway offers classic upstate landscapes, and Route 28 is a great gateway when you’re aiming toward the Catskills. Cell service is generally reliable, but it’s still smart to download maps ahead of time if you plan to wander onto quieter back roads. Wildlife sightings are part of the experience—especially at dawn and dusk—so take it slow on darker stretches and keep an eye out for deer. Winter travel can be stunning but weather-dependent, so a well-equipped car and a little extra time go a long way. Rideshares exist in some areas, but availability can be limited outside the busier towns, making a personal vehicle the most convenient way to explore. This house is just beautiful inside and out. From design to comfort this house has everything and the heated floors in the living room and bathrooms were the icing on the cake!!! The company in charge of managing the property is also amazing. Their response time (even at 2am) was so quick and they were extremely accommodating. I will absolutely be back to this location again soon!!!

Wonderful place to spend a week with our family in the Hudson Valley. The house was cozy when we wanted it to be (heated floors were a welcome surprise) and large enough that we could all find private space when we needed to get work done too.The furniture matched the stylish decor and there was not an uncomfortable seat to be found. The curated book shelves and stocked kitchen were also a bonus. The hosts were very helpful and gracious enough to mail back a forgotten laptop. We can’t wait to book another stay!

The house was larger than expected, and we could have used a few more people to fill all the beds. Sparsely but nicely furnished to make it feel spacious yet cozy. Many different areas to relax. Beds were comfortable and appreciated the 2 different options of pillows. Sauna was a nice extra. Would love to return in warmer weather to utilize the pool. Nice yard, and patio area, though there is a road on the other side of the fence so some mild road noise (not heard inside the house). Utilized the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit for cool fall weather. Enough cooking utensils & dishes for some simple home meals, and grilling. Very close to main st Germantown with a few shops, market & restaurants.--borderline walkable in nice weather. Plenty to do within driving distance. Portoro homes communicated well about check in / check out and everything was smooth.

We arrived as the cleaner was heading out and she was so kind to us! To say the home awed us would be an understatement! The floors are stunning large panel wood, the sauna is a must, and the beds were the comfiest I’ve ever slept on! Next time I’m in this area, I will be booking this place again.

All of us had such a wonderful weekend stay! The host was incredibly responsive and made everything so smooth from start to finish. The house itself was spotless and well cared for, with a really unique and cool architectural design that made the stay feel special. It was also very spacious, giving us plenty of room to relax and enjoy time together. All of the amenities worked perfectly, which made our stay super comfortable and hassle-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again!

We had a great stay at the barn. The fenced yard is huge and our dog had the best time running around. The fence was in great shape so our dog couldn't find her way out. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware. We also used the grill several times. The outdoor space is excellent. Germantown and Hudson are easy to get to. You can even walk into Germantown and we got coffee, pastries, and local groceries from Otto's there. Great hosts, they had everything thought of.

We stayed here for a friend’s bachelorette/low key girls weekend and it was perfect! The house was clean, stylish, and had plenty of space for our group. The pool and yard were amazing—such a peaceful spot to relax together. We would have loved another bathroom outside of the bedrooms for people sleeping in the loft but made it work without any issues. This is a great private location, easy check-in, and a super responsive host. Highly recommend for a fun and stress-free stay!

I live just two-tenths of a mile from the location and will hopefully be able to use the same space again in the future.(One recommendation this time of year: Have Mountain Pool do a really good scrubbing of the pool/liner floor ... they tend to get algae build-up and are super slippery, potentially dangerous.)thanks. We had a great time here. The house is beautiful with a lot of charm and the pool area is extremely welcoming. We made very good use of the pool and the outdoor areas. Three things to note: 1) The bathrooms and bedrooms were immaculately clean however the main areas (floors etc) were a little dirty which added to the rustic charm but could have been vacuumed/mopped better. 2) The air conditioning in the bedrooms were excellent at keeping us cool but the kitchen and main dining area were hot and humid. 3) The wifi did not reach the master bedroom upstairs so we were not able to access internet in that bedroom. Just adding these notes in case any of these things are dealbreakers for anyone. We enjoyed our time, the house is still amazing and the hosts were attentive and always responsive. I would still highly recommend this place.
