Summary
You'll have the entire casita to yourself. The casita is a beautiful recent addition to this property that is located through a breezeway behind the main home. The Pastel Casita features a kitchen, queen bed and bathroom - all the amenities you need to enjoy an exciting Austin, Texas stay.
Space
In additional to the wonderful space you have with a queen bed, bathroom and kitchen, the location and proximity to all things Austin are at your fingertips at this spot. The kitchen offers a mini-fridge, small 4-burner electric stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, and complimentary coffee & tea. The property is just 3 miles from downtown and 2 miles to the UT campus. The neighborhood is walkable with quick access to lots of pizzerias, bars, burger joints, bakeries, taco joints, and delicatessens. There are several parks, a public pool, golf course, and grocery stores in close proximity – the closest is H.E.B in Hancock Center. Notables: Hyde Park village is a 1/2 mile walk and has nearly everything you will need: a great bakery (Quacks), small local grocery store (Fresh Plus), Italian food (Asti), Mexican food (Curras, Julios), a burger joint (Hyde Park Bar and Grill), an Italian gelato shop (Uncle Nicky's) and a deli (Antonelli's Cheese Shop). The North Loop area is a 3/4 mile walk and has 5 vintage resale stores (Room Service, Ermine Vintage, Big Bertha, Bloody Rose, Blue Velvet), 3 great bars (Drink Well, The Tigress, Workhorse), a great restaurant (Foreign and Domestic), a great coffee place (Epoch) to study or hang out, and one of Austin's best record stores (Breakaway Records). The property was once owned by the famous gunsmith and outfitters family, the Petmecky's, who supplied spurs and rifles to Sam Houston and the Texas Rangers. Selling guns and equipment to outdoorsmen, they owned Austin's longest operating small business on South Congress for over 100 years. Their property marked the northeast corner of Austin’s City Limits until 1935. This casita is adjacent to the historic main house. Had a good stay here, overall clean and I liked having a small kitchen. The area itself if pretty quiet but quick access to major roads made it easy to get to other areas of interest within the city.

October 2025
It is in a great location just outside of downtown Austin. It was easy to find, as well as a great place to explore much of what Austin has to offer. It was super clean and well-put together, leaving plenty of space to feel like a home while I spent a week there. It was within walking distance of an HEB for groceries, as well as great bars and restaurants.
